Wednesday was my first (busy) day of New York Fashion Week. Many of the major menswear brands have shown in Europe already at this point. Still, there are numerous presentations of smaller American brands who’s time to shine is now and as the Menswear Fashion Editor, it’s my job to check them out (I know, life is hard). I love getting to know this side of fashion. Menswear is so functional yet gorgeously designed. It’s really having a moment.
I went to Industria Superstudios in the Meatpacking District for two waves of Menswear presentations. Below are some moments I captured while there.
…And (of course) what I wore.
1. Helmut Lang: Structured Shoulder Drapey Blazer – 2. H&M: Jewel Print Dress – 3. Miu Miu: Steel Toe Flat Booties – 4. H&M Sheer/Opaque Tights
I’m a sucker for bold, simple designs – dots, stripes, egg shapes (check out my Eggspiration board on Pinterest), complimentary colors… visual order makes me feel safe.
Today I’m feeling secure and chic in one of my favorite color block dresses from Zara, Chanel booties and my favorite C&C Skye belt.
1. Fendi, Leather and Metal Cuff – 2. Chanel, Perforated Leather Booties – 3. C&C Skye, Leather Belt w/ Gold Screw Heads – 4. Zara, Short Sleeve Color Block Dress
Alert! McDonald’s is really having a moment.
First we had Jeremy Scott’s nod to the fast food chain and now the crimson line up (I just couldn’t look away from) at the 2014 Emmys. I didn’t choose all red gowns despite the abundance, but the gowns I did choose all had a little something unexpected.
Claire Danes in Givenchy – In the Edit because: Givenchy in red. An honorable mention to beaded butterflies on the collar and lace cut outs.
Julia Roberts in Elie Saab – In the Edit because: Looking youthful is always in. Visual happiness provided by long sleeves and short skirts. Honorable mention to bubble beads.
Sarah Paulson in Armani Prive – In the Edit because: Tulle and polkadots are just doing their thang. Honorable mention to Edgar Allen Poe and the Raven.
How I image going to the beach in my 30’s. 😉
